Deep Ocean: Tale of Taro

Deep Ocean was created from my personal concern about the growing pollution in our seas and the heartbreaking videos of marine life struggling to survive in toxic, human-made environments. I wanted to build an experience where players don’t just watch this reality—they feel it.

In Deep Ocean, you journey alongside Taro, a gentle sea turtle who guides you through polluted underwater zones. Using hand tracking, you can swim naturally, pick up debris, free trapped creatures, and restore the environment around you. An in-world, diegetic inventory system lets you store and use tools seamlessly as you clean plastic, ghost nets, and oil from the ocean.

This prototype was developed in Unity with assets modeled in Blender and built using the Meta SDK. Designed and created in just a few days, Deep Ocean is a small but heartfelt reminder that even small actions can help protect the fragile beauty beneath the waves.
